HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL IN THE CTE VOCATIONAL NURSE PROGRAM?
The VN program is an 18-20 month (1530 hours) training program. any individual interested in enrolling in the CTE VN program must first undergo assessment testing, followed by an application, orientation and registration. This process includes the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Pass the TABE placement test with the following scores:
- - Reading: 536
- - Math: 496
- Submit a VN Application within the application window with the following documents:
- - High School Diploma or High School Equivalency, from an accredited institution**
- - Nurse Assistant Certification (must be active)**
- - Proof of employment as a CNA for a minimum of 350 hours**
- - Two letters of recommendation (from anyone except family members)
- - Government issued photo I.D.**
- - Birth Certificate**
- - Social Security**
- - One 2x2 passport photo
- - Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart CPR
**NOTE: Originals for all the above are required and CAE will take a photocopy.
- Completing the following Pre-requisite classes:
Medical Terminology | 45 hours |
Medical Math (Inter Algebra, Math 103) | 45 hours |
Nutrition (or FN 40) | 33 hours |
Anatomy & Physiology | 60 hours |
Vocational Nurse Prep | 36 hours |

- Complete an interview with the VN Director
- Once accepted to the VN Program students are required to attend the VN Orientation which includes:
- - Scheduling, including class start expected expenditures
- - Program costs and expected expenditures
- - Financial Aid information
- - Review of the VN Student Handbook
- - Completion of Registration paperwork
- - Payment of Fees
