Office Assistant Program Information

Last Date to TABE Test: May 1, 2025

Mandatory Orientation: April 23 & 30, 2025
Program Start Date:  May 5, 2025

  • The Clovis Adult Education Office Assistant Program is designed to help students learn and improve basic skills necessary for anyone working in an office environment.

    • 16 week program (400 hours)
    • 5 days a week
    • Class time:
      • Monday - Friday
      • 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

    ATTENDANCE POLICY:

    • 3 Consecutive absences or more than 5 non-consecutive absences within an 8-week session will result in being dropped from the course with a "discipline drop due to excessive absences."
    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • Pass the TABE level "A" test:
      • reading:  7.0 grade level or higher
    • Submit an accredited High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
      • ** If you received your diploma outside of the US, must get evaluated to US equivalency
    • Have a Government issue ID
    • Have a valid social security card
    • Attend a mandatory orientation
    • Complete registration paperwork

  • Program fee:  $1,260 including books

    • $275 per class
    • $160 approximate cost for books.

    Payments:

    • Payments are due before the first day of class
    • Payments will be as you go (every 8 weeks payment will be due)

  • CTE Business certificate program requires a valid, government issued I.D., social security card, a high school diploma from an accredited institution or a HSE (high school equivalency) and passing a TABE level "A" test.

    Qualify in Four Easy Steps

    Step 1: Call 559-327-2853 to secure a seat or walk in prior to the testing start time.
    Step 2: Check in at the Business Careers office (located in the Main Office) with your government-issued ID.
    Step 3: Take the TABE Test.

    • No fee.
    • Arrive early.
    • Follow the proctor's instructions.

    Step 4: After completing the TABE test, our Registration Specialist will contact you via phone and email.

    Testing Details

    • Free 25-minute reading comprehension test to qualify.
    • Testing Schedule:
      • Tuesdays at 9:00 AM
      • Thursdays at 1:00 PM
    • Important Notes:
      • Testing is not conducted during holidays or breaks.

    TABE Level "A" Test Requirements

    To pass, you must achieve:

    • Reading: 7.0 grade level or higher.

COMPUTER BASICS - EXCEL
Register: Computer Basics – Excel
Book: Microsoft Excel 2019 & 365: Level 1
This course is designed for beginners seeking to build a strong foundation in computing.
Excel Level I: Enhance productivity by learning how to format worksheets, use formulas, and manage data effectively.
Google Sheets: Learn to create, edit, and collaborate in spreadsheets online.
Keyboarding Proficiency:  Boost your productivity by mastering the art of keyboarding.
Price: $275 + book

KEYBOARDING CERTIFICATE
Register: Keyboarding Certificate
Keyboarding for beginners and students who want to improve their typing skills. Choose your own schedule Monday-Friday. This 6-8 week class allows unlimited visits during the time of registration. Students will be using a computer program to learn the keyboard and focus on building speed and accuracy.
Price: $125
Schedule: 8:30 am – 1:30 pm Monday – Friday
OFFICE PROCEDURES
Register: Office Procedures
This course is designed to meet the needs of the new generation of office workers. Students will learn a combination of traditional office skills such as: customer service skills, reference manuals, office machines and word processing. Elevate your professional presence with a focus on soft skills. Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability is crucial in the modern workplace, Our course places a strong emphasis on these skills, helping you stand out as a well-rounded and effective team member.

EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION

CONFIDENCE IN COMMUNICATION

ACCOUNTING
